Hylis terminalis (LeConte, 1866)
( Fig. 2 View Figures 1–6 )
In Canada, this uncommonly encountered eucnemid species was previously known from Ontario and Québec. In the United States, H. terminalis was previously known from Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin ( Otto and Karns 2017). I confirm the presence of H. terminalis as a new state record in South Carolina. One specimen was taken from a flight intercept trap. Two specimens were taken from a canopy trap. Two specimens were taken from Lindgren funnel traps baited with Ips lure or Platypodinae lure.
