Measurements: (7 specimens measured) Average total length: 15.2mm, range: 12.4–18.8mm, average elytral length: 10.0mm, average elytral width: 3.8mm, average pronotal length: 3.7mm, average pronotal width: 3.0mm, average head width: 3.0mm.
Head: Black, cranium densely vested with short yellow setae and, more sparsely, with longer setae positioned laterally, punctured densely and coarsely, interstices smaller than diameter of punctures, punctation sometimes merging together; posterior part of clypeus black, anterior margin strongly concave, posterior margin straight, with large punctation and a few long setae laterally, smooth centrally; ventral part wrinkled, smooth centrally; antennae red-brown, A4 longer than A3, antennomeres gradually decreasing in length from A4 towards A8, A9 to A11 forming an indistinct club, male antennae reaching slightly beyond base of pronotum when laid back; gular sutures diverging apically, gular process relatively broad, narrower than gula.
Thorax: Average pronotal length:width ratio 1.2:1; pronotum black, vested with short yellowish setae, pronotal arch with distinct punctation, interstices among punctation not exceeding one diameter of punctures, pronotum proper with denser punctation; prosternum dark red-brown to black, smooth; mesosternum dark red-brown to black, vested with yellowish-white setae; metasternum dark red-brown to black with small tubercles, vested with yellowish-white setae, punctation relatively dense, interstices among punctation about one diameter of punctures; transverse sulcus on anterior part of mesosternum and mesepisternum relatively distinct on mesosternum, prointercoxal process not distinctly dilated terminally, anterior mesosternal process narrow, anterior metasternal process with two small, ventrally projecting, edges; scutellum round, black.
Elytra: Average length:width ratio 2.6:1; uniformly black, sparsely vested with short decumbent and longer erect setae, punctation relatively large, covering entire surface, humeral region with additional punctation, striae 1 and 2 often split into two smaller striae and sometimes indistinct after basal third, interstices between and within striae smaller than one diameter of punctures, punctation rasp-like in basal third, carination absent.
Legs: Light red-brown, basal part of femora black, tarsal pulvilli pale; male metafemora strongly thickened, metafemora and metatibiae with small tubercles at setal insertions, male metatibiae dilated distally ( Fig. 24), metatibiae more or less straight, anterior and posterior face of each tibia carinate, carination dark red-brown to black, distinct, especially on metatibia.
Abdomen: Ventrites dark red-brown, punctation distinct, interstices about one diameter of punctures; male pygidium ovate, arms very long and broadened distally; male ventrite 6 only with slight and narrow emargination. Male genitalia ( Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 ): Tegmen broad, sinus relatively small; phallic plates broad, tip narrow and strongly sclerotized; spicular fork dividing into two branches at first quarter.
Distribution: Vietnam.
Seasonal occurrence: Collected from April to June.
Etymology: The specific epithet, doliaris , a Latin adjective meaning thick like a barrel, refers to the thickened metafemora of males.
