Measurements: (20 specimens measured) Average total length: 10.8mm, range: 9.3–12.3mm, average elytral length: 7.3mm, average elytral width: 2.8mm, average pronotal length: 2.3mm, average pronotal width: 2.0mm, average head width: 2.1mm.

Head: Black, cranium vested with short setae, punctation distinct, interstices larger than diameter of punctures; posterior part of clypeus black, anterior margin concave, posterior margin straight, with large punctation and a few long setae laterally, smooth centrally; ventral part dark red-brown to black, smooth except wrinkles behind the eyes; antennae red-brown, antennomeres gradually decreasing in length from A3 towards A8, male antennae reaching base of pronotum when laid back; gular sutures parallel, gular process broad.

Thorax: Average pronotal length:width ratio 1.2:1; pronotum dark red-brown to black, vested with short yellowish setae, pronotal arch narrow, punctation of pronotal arch and pronotum proper weak, interstices about one diameter of punctures, prosternum dark red-brown, smooth; mesosternum dark red-brown to black, margins darkened, sparsely vested with yellowish setae; metasternum dark red-brown to black, densely vested with fine setae; scutellum circular to oval, slightly darker than surrounding elytra.

Elytra: Average length:width ratio 2.6:1; coloration variable, from humeral angle to extreme lateral margins dark red-brown to black, with one dark red-brown to black postmedian fascia, some specimens colored darker, entire first quarter can be dark red-brown to black, apex yellow, vested with short erect setae, punctation small, the most part of punctures is subdivided into two to four punctures, diameters of punctures differs, punctures on humeral angle are single in most specimen, overall image of punctation is confused, punctation present in all striae over total length, interstices between striae are smaller than diameters of punctures, punctation never rasp-like, carination absent.

Legs: Dark red-brown, trochanter and proximal part of femora yellow, tibiae and tarsi slightly lighter, metatibiae more or less straight, anterior and posterior face of each tibia carinate, carination dark red-brown to black, distinct, especially on metatibia.

Abdomen: Ventrites dark red-brown, margins of ventrite 5 and entire ventrite 6 yellow, punctation very fine and sparse; male pygidium suboval, apical margin with U-shaped narrow emargination; male ventrite 6 with broad U-shaped shallow emargination. Male genitalia ( Fig. 57 View FIGURE 57 ): Parameres apically very broad, ventral sinus in a deep V-shape, dorsal sinus not so deep; phallic plates broad except basal sixth where they are narrow, phallic plates slightly narrowed before tip; spicular fork dividing into two branches after one fifth of length.

Distribution: Laos, Vietnam, Tibet, China (Yunnan, Hubei).

Seasonal occurrence: Collected from May to July.

Etymology: The specific epithet, temere, a Latin adjective meaning accidental, refers to the confused elytral punctation.
