Oculocornia Oliger, 1985 View in CoL
Type species: Oculocornia orientalis Oliger, 1985 by monotypy and by original designation.
Etymology. The origin of this name was not explained by the author, but it is clearly derived from the Latin “oculi” (eyes) and “cornu” (horn), i.e. eyes on horn.
Description. The same as for species.
Diagnosis. This genus can be easily separated from all other erigonines by the presence of two ocular outgrowths, an anterior one bearing the anterior median eyes, and a divided posterior one bearing a posterior median eye on each division. In addition, this genus has unique dorsal tibial apophyses: a two-armed large apophysis with longer terminal part, and two small conical apophyses placed near the base of the large apophysis.
No Palaearctic or Holarctic genera or species with two cephalic outgrowths has a subdivided posterior outgrowth, and no taxon known to us has the terminal (retrolateral) arm of the dorsal tibial apophysis larger than mesal (prolateral) one.
