EOO: 1,363,272.584 km ². AOO: 188 km ². Evaluation of IUCN: Least Concern.

Eugenia capuli has a wide distribution, known in 19 Mexican states, with records in the northwest, northeast (states along the Gulf of Mexico coast), central, southwest, and southeast Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula, in addition to Central America ( WCSP 2020). The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) exceeds the thresholds for a threatened category under the criterion B. The area of occupancy (AOO) would likely exceed the thresholds of any threatened category when the remaining habitat available is taken in account. The biomes of occurrence are the Humid Tropical Forest, Humid Montane Forest and the Seasonally Dry Tropical Forest. Forty-eight records are known, most of which are collected in areas of biological protection of Federal or State administration such as La Reserva de la Biosfera el Cielo, in Tamaulipas, Reserva de la Biosfera Sierra Gorda, in Querétaro, Reserva de la Los Tuxtlas Biosphere, in Veracruz, El Tormento, in Campeche, Montes Azules Biosphere Reserve, Lacan-tun Biosphere Reserve, Selva el Ocote Biosphere Reserve, all in the state of Chiapas (Gobierno de Tamaulipas & TNC 2011, INE-SEMARNAP 1999d, CONANP 2006a, INE-SEMARNAP 2000a, CONANP 2001). According to the recent assessment by BGCI & IUCN (2019d), Eugenia capuli is currently in Least Concern (LC) category.
