22. * Eugenia crenularis Lundell, Wrightia View in CoL 3: 12 (1961b)
= Eugenia hintonii Lundell Wrightia View in CoL 3:14. 1961.
EOO: 302,612.502 km ². AOO: 68 km ². Evaluation of IUCN: Least Concern.
Eugenia crenularis has a wide distribution, known in eight states of Mexico, with records in the northwest, northeast (state on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico), center and southwest. The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) exceeds the thresholds for a threatened category under the criterion B. The area of occupancy (AOO) would probably fairly exceed the thresholds of any threatened category when the remaining habitat available is taken in account, due to unbalanced surveys in its entire range. There are more than 10 known locations based on 22 records available, mostly collected in biological protection areas, such as “La Reserva de la Biosfera Sierra Gorda”, in Querétaro, “Z.P.F.T.C.C. de los Rios Valle de Bravo, Malacatepec, Tilostoc y Temascaltepec”, in the State of Mexico and in remnants of the Humid Montane Forest mainly and well-preserved Humid Tropical Forest with low degradation index ( CONABIO 2018, INE-SEMARNAP 1999d, DOF 2005). Therefore, Eugenia crenularis is classified as Least Concern (LC) as it occurs in protected areas across its broad range, which exceeds the thresholds for a threatened category under the criterion B.
