2. Eugenia aeruginea De Candolle, Prodr. View in CoL 3: 283 (1828)
EOO: 734,584.263 km ². AOO: 388 km ². Evaluation of IUCN: Least Concern.
Eugenia aeruginea is distributed in southeastern Mexico, in the states of Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, Quintana Roo and Yucatán, continental countries of Central America, also in Cuba and Jamaica ( WCSP 2020), from 0–600 m elev. In the Mexican territory it is known in Humid and Dry Tropical Forest biomes, as well as in mangrove and swamps. One hundred and thirty-five records of collections were found in Mesoamerica, from Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, and Costa Rica. The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) exceeds the threshold for a threatened category under criterion B (IUCN, 2012). The area of occupancy (AOO) of Eugenia aeruginea would likely exceed the threshold of any threatened category when the remaining habitat available is taken in account, due to its low habitat specificity and unbalanced surveys in its entire range. Eugenia aeruginea is classified here as Least Concern (LC).
