EOO: 5,208,765.006 km ². AOO: 1,148.00 km². Evaluation of IUCN: Least Concern.

This species has a wide distribution in the American continent, occurring from Mexico to Brazil, in addition to the Antilles ( WCSP 2020). In the Mexican territory it is known in 13 states, with records in the northwest, northeast (states along the Gulf of Mexico coast), central, southwest, and southeast Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula. The species’ habitats occur in remnants of Humid and Dry tropical forests. There are two occurrence records in two important Mexican reserves for the protection of biodiversity managed by the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (CONANP). These are the “Calakmul Biosphere Reserve” and the “Selva el Ocote Biosphere Reserve” (INE-SEMARNAP 1999a, CONANP 2001). In Belize there are records in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve and in Guatemala in the Maya Biosphere Reserve. The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) exceeds the thresholds for a threatened category under the criterion B. Eugenia acapulcensis area of occupancy (AOO) would likely exceed the threshold of a threatened category when remaining habitat available is considered since the species occurs within several protected areas. However, the area of occupancy (AOO) is underestimated due to its low habitat specificity and unbalanced surveys across its entire range. According to recent assessment by BGCI & IUCN (2019a), the species is currently in the Least Concern (LC) category.
