EOO: 354,456 km ². AOO: 12 km ². Evaluation of IUCN: Least Concern.
Eugenia breedlovei is endemic to Mexico and known from only seven collections made in the state of Chiapas. The habitat is in a good state of conservation, mainly placed within a protected area very important for the biodiversity of Mexico, “Reserva de la Biosfera Selva el Ocote” ( CONANP 2001, Rzedowski 1994, 1978, Ochoa-Gaona, 1996, Miranda 1952, Breedlove 1981, Matuda 1950). The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) exceeds the threshold for a threatened category under criterion B, whilst the estimated area of occupancy (AOO) falls between Critically Endangered and Endangered categories. However, Eugenia breedlovei occurs within several protected areas and its area of occupancy (AOO) is considered underestimated due to its habitat specificity in the poorly surveyed Humid Montane Forest. As the last known collection was made 10 years ago, the low number of existing records is considered related to scarce collection efforts. Therefore, Eugenia breedlovei is classified here as Least Concern (LC).
