EOO: 162,256.645 km ². AOO: 56 km ². Evaluation of IUCN: Least Concern.
Eugenia bumelioides is endemic to the Mesoamerican region , its distribution comprises southeastern Mexico (Chiapas, Tabasco, and Yucatán) and border countries such as Guatemala and Belize ( WCSP 2020). With only 28 collection records for the region, occurring mainly in the Humid Tropical Forests of the countries of Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize. The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) exceeds the thresholds for a threatened category under the criterion B. Its area of occupancy (AOO) would likely exceed the thresholds of any threatened category when the remaining habitat available is taken in account, as this species occurs within protected areas. The conserved forests where the species was collected, mainly in Chiapas Mexico, are protected by the Selva el Ocote Biosphere Reserve, one of the most important tropical forest reserves in Mexico. In this way, Eugenia bumelioides is classified here as Least Concern (LC) according to the criteria of IUCN (2012).
