Holotype: ZIAR 900 , female, “Armenian SSR, Idzhevansky District, vicinity of Idzhevan” [vicinity of Ijevan , Lori Province, Armenia].

Etymology: Named after Valerian N. Rostombekov (1878–1965), Soviet zoologist—expert on the Caucasian fauna.

Present name: Darevskia rostombekowi ( Darevsky, 1957) fide Ananjeva et al. (2006).
