Holotype: Adult male ( BMNH 1988.399), collected by Colin and Sarah Tilbury. Type locality: in evergreen forest at 940 m asl., above the Chididi Police post, on top of Malawi Hills, southern Malawi.

Variation in adult coloration in an adult male and an adult female are illustrated in Fig. 4 D and Fig. 4 E, respectively. Note also the pronounced nasal and supraorbital processes on the head of the male. For full details of morphology, hemipenial structure, biology and habitat see Tilbury (2010).
