The species has also been reported as Lejeunea caulicalyx (Steph.) M.E.Reiner & Goda in Maranhão (e.g., Macedo and Ilkiu-Borges 2014; Brito and Ilkiu-Borges 2014; Vieira et al. 2017; Oliveira et al. 2018b; Costa et al. 2018), which is now recognized as a synonym of L. glaucecens ( Bastos and Gradstein 2020).
