Type species: Arctelene uncodes Kirti & Gill, 2008 (by original designation), a junior subjective synonym of Arctelene rubricosa ( Moore, 1878) (see below).

Species of the genus are externally indistinguishable from members of the genus Miltochrista but display substantial differences in the male genital capsule structure, which is distinguished from Miltochrista by the presence of a dorsal proximal crest of the uncus, and the apically dilated valva lacking the distal membranous lobe and the distal saccular process. The female genitalia of Arctelene are characterised by the sclerotised 7 th abdominal sternite bearing poster-lateral subostial lobes, and the large and membranous appendix bursae. The genus is under revision by Volynkin et al. (in prep.).
