(Figs. 29–30, 37–43)
Pentatoma brunnea Zheng & Ling, 1983: 235 –236; Ling & Zheng, 1983: 41, 43, 44, 46, 47, 49; Rider, 2006: 331.
Types examined. CHINA: Sichuan Provice: Holotype: male, Mount. Emei (29°32'N, 103.19°E), 29. VII. 1962, Li–juan Chen leg. (NKUM). Allotype: female, Dujiangyan City (31°01'N, 103°37'E),?. VII. 1965 (NKUM). Paratype: 1 male, Mount. Emei (29°32'N, 103°19'E), 28. VII. 1962, Yi–zheng Wang leg. (NKUM).
Diagnosis. Denticulate edge of anterolateral pronotal margin narrowly metallic green, red area next to the edge narrow or missing in some specimens; transverse area between humeral angles paler than surroundings due to sparse punctation. Humeral angles of pronotum bent slightly cephalad and upwards, red apically, bifid with two short apical teeth (fig. 5). Antennomere 1 reaching apex of clypeus, antennomeres 2 and 3 subequal in length.
Rostrum reaching anterior margin of the abdominal sternum 4. Peritreme narrow, straight, not longer than 1/3 width of evaporatorium. Abdominal base not spined, bearing only a tubercule. Yellow spot in middle of laterotergite very large and wide.
Male genitalia. Ventral excavation of pygophore sinuate medially, with lateral margins about straight (fig. 37). Paremere (figs. 39–40) with apex round, outer margin laminate, C–shaped, a subapical process on the inner side whose apex is more or less truncated, inner base slightly convex but not distinctly produced. Aedeagus (figs. 41–42) with a pair of sclerotized dorsal processes and a simple well developed median conjunctival lobe even longer than the phallotheca; median penial plates simple and vesica not passing beyond them.
FIGURES. 37–43. Bifurcipentatoma brunnea ( Zheng & Ling, 1983) 37–38. Pygophore (37—ventral view, 38—dorsal view). 39–40. Paramere (39—lateral view, 40—apical view). 41–42. Aedeagus (41—lateral view, 42—apical view). 43. Female genitalia.
Female genitalia (fig. 43). Mesial margins of gonoxites convex, convergent from base to midpoint, then divergent, interspace between them X–shaped, apices broadly rounded. Apex of the paratergite 9 produced and passing beyond that of the paratergite 8.
Distribution. Southwest China (Sichuan).
