Derivatio nominis. The species is named after the late Prof. Dr. Mete Mısırlıoğlu, the renowned earthworm scholar.

Diagnosis. Length 60–95 mm, diameter 3–4 mm, setae widely paired. Colour pale throughout the body. First dorsal pore in 4/5. Clitellum on 26, 27– 33, 1/ n 34, 34, tubercles on 30–32. Male pore on 15, surrounded by small glandular crescents. Nephridial pores irregularly alternate between b and above d. Three pairs of vesicles in 9,11,12; spermathecae two pairs in 9/10–10/11 open in M. Well developed calciferous diverticula in 11–12. Hearts in segments 6–10, nephridial bladders simple, sausage-shaped.

External characters. Holotype 62 mm long and 4 mm wide. Number of segments 157. Paratypes 60–95 mm long and 3–4 mm wide. Number of segments 145–160. Colour pale, throughout the body. Prostomium epilobous, 1/3 closed. First dorsal pore at intersegmental furrow 4/5. Setae widely paired. Setal arrangement behind clitellum: aa: ab: bc: cd: dd = 2.75:1:1.3:1:3.3 ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 2-3 ). Male pores on segment 15, surrounded by glandular crescents, protruding slightly into the neighbouring segments. Nephridial pores irregularly alternate between setal line b–d. Clitellum on segments 26, 27– 33, 1/ n 34, 34. Tubercula pubertatis on segments 30–32. Glandular tumescences on segments10 or 11 abcd, sometimes also 9, 33, 34 ab ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 2-3 ).

Internal characters. All septa membranous except 12/13–13/14 which slightly thickened Testes and funnels paired in segments 10–11, covered with perioesophageal testis sac. Three pairs of seminal vesicles in 9, 11, and 12. Spermathecae two pairs in 9/10, 10/11 with external openings near the middorsal line (M). Calciferous glands well developed in segments 11–12. Paired hearts appear in segments 6–10. Nephridial bladders simple, sausageshaped. Crop in segments 15–16, and gizzard in segments 17–18. Typhlosolis large, anchor-shaped. Longitudinal musculature is of pinnate type.

Remarks. Morphologically this species is close to D. alpina Rosa, 1884 , it differs, however, from it by the lack of purple-red pigmentation and the slightly longer clitellum (26, 27 – 33, 1/ n 34, 34 vs. 27, 28 – 33). On the phylogenetic tree ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ), it seems close to D. pentheri and D. orientalis . D. misirlioglui sp. nov. differs from both by the lack of pigmentation and the spermathecal opening (M vs. setal line d).
