Type material: male, with labels as follows: “ PARATYPUS, Lepidophallus , hayashii n. sp., Bordoni det. 1997” / “ CHINA: NW-Yunnan, 15km N Lijiang , ' 2600–2800m,' 6.7.1994, leg. Schillhammer (15)” ( NMW) .
Distribution. China (Yunnan).
Remarks. This species could be distinguished from its congeners by: 1) body dark brown with lighter colored antennae and tarsi; 2) temples slightly dilated; 3) frontal and anteocular furrow superficial; 4) the impunctate longitudinal median band with the width of 0.25 mm; 5) interspaces between punctures 2–3 punctures’ diameter; 6) admedian row on pronotum of 16–17 punctures, mixed with some smaller punctures besides; 7) mesoscutellum covered with obvious polygonal reticulum; 8) each side of elytra bearing 9–10 rows of small punctures; 9) paired rows of larger spines in 4/5 part of inner sac.
