Female: Body worm like, 146 long, shield 26 long, 40 wide, shield lobe absent; shield design with median line from base to basal 3/4, admedian lines complete, with 3 transverse line at basal 1/4, half and basal 3/4, form 5 cells at each lateral sides; scapular tubercles located near lateral margins of shield, set ahead of rear shield margin, scapular seta (sc) 7 long, directed to outer and upward, Dt-Dt 34 apart. Legs: tibiae fused with tarsi; coxal area smooth; 1st coxal seta (1b) and tubercles absent, 2nd coxal seta (1a) 6 long, Ct2-Ct2 8 apart, 3rd coxal seta (2a) 9 long, Ct3-Ct3 20 apart, Ct2\Ct3 15, Ct2-Ct3 8; solenidion ending as knob; empodium simple, 5 rayed.
Opisthosoma: dorsum flattened, dorsal annuli with 48 rings, 1st 3 dorsal annuli 4 long; ventral annuli with 61 microtuberculate rings; lateral seta (c2) 20 long, Lt-Lt 40 apart, Lt\Vt1 40, Lt-Vt1 20; 1st ventral seta (d) 36 long, Vt1-Vt1 29 apart, Vt1\Vt2 33, Vt1-Vt2 27; 2nd ventral seta (e) 7 long, Vt2-Vt2 12 apart, Vt2\Vt3 31, Vt2-Vt3 28; 3rd ventral seta (f) 15 long, Vt3-Vt3 15 apart; accessory seta (h1) absent.
Epigynium: 19 wide, 11 long, with granules at base, genital seta (3a) 6 long, Gt-Gt 15 apart.
Male: not seen.
Type data: Holotype Ψ, Taipei: Yangmingshan (680m; N25°10´E121°34´), 18-Aug.-1999, Huang & Wang; ex Melastoma candidum D. Don (Melastomataceae) . (deposited at NMNS). Paratypes, 3Ψ, data same as for holotype.
Relation to host: A vagrant on the lower leaf surface. No apparent damage was observed.
Remarks: This new species is close to N. wendlandiae Wei et Qin, 2002 by the shield design with median line from base to basal 3/4, and form 6 cells between admedian lines. This new species differs from N. wendlandiae by the following characters: the shield design with 5 cells on each lateral side, and the 3-rayed empodium.
Etymology: The specific designation is derived from the locality “ Taiwan ”, in reference to this being the first species of Nothopoda Keifer, 1951 found in Taiwan.
