Discussion

The species is part of the ruralis species group and is hereby transferred to the genus Clistoabdominalis ( Cli. sinaiensis ( De Meyer, 1995) comb. nov.). In addition to the drawings provided by De Meyer (1995), the phallic guide, hypandrium, phallus and surstyli are figured here ( Figs 9a–d View FIGURE 9 ). The taxon is closest to the European Cli. tumidus ( De Meyer, 1997) , recently redescribed and figured in Kehlmaier (2005). Cli. sinaiensis can be distinguished from the latter by the absence of a membranous area on syntergosternite 8, by the shorter and slimmer phallic guide, by the slightly deflected hypandrium and by the dorsal shape of the surstyli. The taxon is currently only known from Israel.
