Material Examined. Hormozgan province, Bandar Abbas env., 18.II.2016, S. Azadbakhsh leg. & det. (2 specimens) .

Identification. Body length 15 mm. Head and pronotum shiny green, elytra unicolored dark green, palpi, antennae, and legs reddish brown. Body wide, convex. Antennomere III longer than IV. Pronotum transverse, lateral margins convex, not sinuated to base, sparsely punctate, almost smooth at disk. Elytra smooth, with complete basal margin, 3 rd interval and stria without setiferous punctures ( Fig. 3 View Fig ).

The species can be recognized easily from Chlaenius dimidiatus Chaudoir, 1842 by the body color and pronotal shape. In C. bengalensis , the head and pronotum are shiny green without coopery luster and the pronotum is wide, while in C. dimidiatus the head and pronotum have a mostly coppery luster and the pronotum is less wide.

Distribution. India and Iran. New country record for Iran.

Biology. The specimens were collected by hand from under stones near the bank of a river.
