Type locality: Trinidad and Tobago, Sangre Grande city, Guaico Tamana ( Brennan and Jones 1960). Type host: Mormoops megalophylla (Peters, 1864) ( Chiroptera : Mormoopidae ).
Type depository: USNM (holotype and paratypes), FMNH (paratypes), NHMUK (paratypes)
and SAM (paratypes). Panama records. Brennan and Yunker (1966) found this species on two bats, Myotis nigricans (Schinz, 1821) ( Chiroptera : Vespertilionidae ), from Cerro
Punta, Chiriquí Province and P. personatus (= P. psilotis ) ( Chiroptera : Mormoopidae ), from Penonomé, Coclé Province. These authors also reported P. monops from an unidentified bat collected in Penonomé, Coclé Province ( Brennan and Yunker, 1966). Other records. ( Kurta et al. 2007), Trinidad and Tobago ( Brennan and Jones 1960), Venezuela ( Brennan and Reed 1975).
