Genus Mideopsella Lundblad, 1927

Type species: Mideopsella forficipalpis Lundblad, 1937

Diagnosis: Surface of dorsal shield plain; coxal suture lines of Cx-IV poorly defined; coxae not forming a medial suture line; the illustration of the ventral shield does not indicate a pair of ridges extending anterolaterally from insertions of IV-L or morphology of region around IV-L; Cxgl-2 located well anterior to genital field; three pairs of Ac; swimming setae present; palp uncate; with the exception of males with a slightly more truncate ventral shield and differences in the genital field, no sexual dimorphism of the idiosoma, legs or palp.

Remarks: This genus seems to be the only one with an uncate palp that has affinities with those with a nonuncate palp. The idiosoma is similar to species assigned to Mideopsis and the uncate palp likely evolved from a greater expansion and forward thrust of the ventral tubercle of the non-uncate palp.

Distribution: Known only from streams in southern Brazil.
