D i s t r i b u t i o n: from southern Sweden south to the Pyrenees; from Britain eastwards through central and southern Europe ( Italy, Montenegro, Kosovo, Serbia, Macedonia) into European Terrytory of Russia and the Caucasus ( Stackelberg, 1970; Peck, 1988; Holinka & Mazánek, 1997; Speight, 2013; Speight, 2016). Ukraine (first record). Very rare and endangered saproxylic European-Caucasian hoverfly (Speight, 2016).
