Remarks. This is a widespread species in southern Europe and North Africa. It is difficult to separate P. aeneus from P. relaxus Rey, and Chiesa (1959) even concluded that P. relaxus might be a subspecies of P. aeneus , but Wooldridge (1978) gave a valuable redescription and an identification key for the unambiguous separation of both taxa ( Hebauer 1994).
