Distribution in North Carolina: All regions of North Carolina. Counties: CT, CA, CR, HO, IR, JA, LN, LI, ME, MO, NH, RI, SC and WY.
Distribution in surrounding states: Tennessee ( Dennis 1938, Cole 1940).
According to Snelling (1995), historical identifications of Dorymyrmex pyramicus are in reality different species. The distribution of true Dorymyrmex pyramicus is Central and South America. Records for this species in North Carolina represent other Dorymyrmex species.
