Type material

Holotype: ♂, CHINA: Mt. Wuyi (26°54'N, 116°42'E), Fujian Province, 600 m, 27.v.2004, coll. Haili Yu. GoogleMaps Paratypes: 4 ♀, same data as holotype except 740 m, 17–19.v.2004 GoogleMaps .

Diagnosis

This species is superficially most similar to C. anticentra (Meyrick) but can be separated from it by the uncus somewhat dilated near the apex, the sacculus with a large sclerotized process dorsally at about the middle, and the saccus large and triangular.

Description

Forewing length 15.0–16.0 mm. Head orangeyellow. Labial palpus orangeyellow, mixed with black scales which become denser and form a black spot at end of second segment; third segment about 2/3 as long as second, slender and pointed. Antenna orange yellow, flagellum scales alternating orangeyellow and dark brown on dorsal surface. Thorax, tegula, and forewing orangeyellow, with dense brown scales. Forewing lanceolate, with brown scales becoming denser at base; costal margin with a large dark brown blotch at about 3/4 length, diffused downward to tornus; apex brown, forming a somewhat broad fascia along termen, joined with the blotch at tornus; dark brown dot set at middle of cell and 2/3 of fold; cilia pale yellow, brown on tornus. Hindwing and cilia deep gray. Legs pale orangeyellow; tibiae and tarsi with dark brown speckles on outside.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7–12 ): Uncus elongate, slightly longer than height of tegumen, somewhat dilated near apex, more or less remiform, basal half setose. Tegumen large and broad, somewhat trapezoidal. Valva sickleshaped, with basal 2/5 narrow and parallelsided, distal 3/5 bootlike and finely setose, apex rounded. Sacculus about 1/3 length of valva, bluntly rounded at apex; a large sclerotized process at about middle of dorsal margin, its apex slightly dilated and exceeding apex of sacculus. Saccus large, triangular. Aedeagus shorter than costa of valva, with median portion expanded, distal portion curved; cornutus small, triangular.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 25–28 ): Papilla analis large and broad, setose, rounded caudally. Anterior apophysis about 3/5 length of posterior apophysis. Posterior margin of lamella postvaginalis concave mesally, spiculate. Ostium bursae small, heavily sclerotized. Ductus bursae membranous, less than 1/2 length of corpus bursae. Corpus bursae large, elongate oval, with two elliptical signa.

Etymology The specific name is from the Latin dorso (dorsal) and projectus (prominent), in reference to the large dorsal process of the sacculus.
