Ethelurgus View in CoL View at ENA genus group
(subtribe Ethelurgina sensu Townes (1970))
Two genera, Ethelurgus Förster, 1869 and Rhembobius Förster, 1869 , have been recorded from Japan. In this study, I review both genera. The Japanese genera can be distinguished by the following key.
Key to Japanese genera of Ethelurgus View in CoL View at ENA genus group
1. Vein 2m-cu vertical ( Fig. 32C View Fig ). Propodeum with strong, projecting apophyses ( Figs 32A, D View Fig ). T II largely smooth except for longitudinally striate basally in Japanese species ( Fig. 32D View Fig ). ................................................ Rhembobius Förster, 1869 View in CoL *
-. Vein 2m-cu inclivous. Propodeum without distinct apophyses ( Figs 30A View Fig , 31A View Fig ). T II largely punctate in Japanese species. ................................................. Ethelurgus Förster, 1869 View in CoL **
* This genus is sometimes misidentified with Pleolophus Townes, 1962 View in CoL (Aptesini Smith & Shenfelt, 1955 of Cryptinae ) because vein 2m-cu vertical. Users should carefully check the character states of them.
** This genus is sometimes misidentified with Stibeutes Förster, 1869 View in CoL ( Phygadeuon View in CoL genus group). Users should carefully check the character states of clypeus, propodeum, and ovipositor.
