Type:— BRAZIL. Rio Grande do Norte: Jucurutu, Serra Jo„o do Vale , 06º00’43”S, 37º08’52”W, 29 May 2010, A. R. O. Ribeiro et al. 247 ( holotype UB- 207815!, isotypes HUEFS-209004!, MOSS-13636!, RB-605130!).

Cyperus planifolius var. pickelii R.Gross ex Ķk. (1936: 447). Type:— BRAZIL. Pernambuco, [Gravatá], Russinha , on wet place, 12 February 1935, B. Pickel 3779 ( lectotype IPA-3311! designated here, isolectotype US-3202923!). Syn. nov. Figs. 1 C-D.
