Material examined. 2♂ 1♀, Greece, Thesprotia , 06.11.1974, A. Vigna leg. ( MCSN) .
Diagnosis. This species is morphologically similar to Maimuna cretica (Kulczyński, 1903) , having a wide median apophysis of the male palp and similar shapes of the epigyne and vulva. The male can be separated by (1) the fan-shaped median apophysis and (2) the large, straight and well sclerotized terminal end of the ventral part of the conductor ( Figs 10 View FIGURES 4–12 , 27 View FIGURES 21–27 ). The female differs by the wide, oval epigynal plate, wider than the epigynal hood ( Fig 19 View FIGURES 13–20 ), and the narrow receptacles ( Fig 20 View FIGURES 13–20 ).
Description. See Blaue (1980: 46, sub Textrix vestita ).
Distribution. Eastern Mediterranean, Balkan Peninsula, Ukraine. All of the records of M. vestita from Turkey are from the easternmost part of the country, near to the Mediterranean and Marmara coasts.
Remarks. I was not able to examine the Turkish material of this species but the drawings provided by Brignoli (1976) and Lecigne (2011) leave no doubt about its identity. Since it is the type species of the genus, I provide new photographs and drawings based on specimens from Greece.
