So far, only two Diplonevra species have been recorded in Israel, D. freyi Schmitz, 1927 and D. funebris (Meigen, 1830) ( Disney & Nussbaum, 1990; Lengyel, 2011a). The latter seems to be quite common in the country. A wealth of material accumulated in the collection warrants a separate treatment of Israeli representatives of this genus.
