Holotype. HNHM Pseudoscorp-160: 1 ex. “1992/1929, Chernes armatus T., Det. Dr. Daday Jenő ”, “ Cher. armatus T.”/“Ashante (Afrika) Reitter”, “Ashante (Afrika) [leg.] Reitter” [‘Ashanti’ in the original description, i.e. Ashanti region in Ghana, Africa].
Current status. Valid, as Chernes armatus Tömösváry, 1884 .
Remarks. The specimen probably represents the holotype of the species. Tömösváry’s original labels must have been replaced later, without indicating the original identifier or its type status (see Introduction).
