Chernes affinis Tömösváry 1884: 18 –19, pl. I figs 10–11.
Chernes scorpioides Hermann, 1804 : Daday 1889a: 116, 171.
Syntypes. HNHM Pseudoscorp-158: 9 ex. “615/1882, Chernes affinis T., Det. Dr. Daday Jenő ”, “Corfu, 1882. [leg.] Reitter” [ Greece; Corfu, also indicated as ‘Corcyra’ in the original description] .
Current status. Junior subjective synonym of Pselaphochernes scorpioides (Hermann, 1804) ( Daday 1889a) .
Remarks. The specimens probably represent the syntypes of C. affinis . Tömösváry’s original labels must have been replaced later, without indicating the original identifier or type status (see Introduction). The original description mentions nine specimens which supports the identification of this material as the type series.
