Syntypes. HNHM Pseudoscorp-240: 2 ex. “613/1883 Chthonius diophthalmus Daday View in CoL , det. Dr. Daday Jenő ”, “Mehádia 1881” [ Mehadia , Romania]”, “vidit G. Gardini X.2013 ”, [leg. Ö. Tömösváry].

Current status. Junior subjective synonym of Chthonius heterodactylus Tömösváry, 1883 ( Gardini 2014) .

Remarks. The original description mentions that it was based on specimens identified earlier by Tömösváry as “ Chthonius rayi L. Koch ”. Tömösváry’s label has obviously been removed later in this case also (see Introduction). Mahnert (1980a) mentioned that he studied the “ Typus ” in HNHM. Although not mentioned in the original description, Tömösváry (1883: 195) stated that he had collected the specimen.
