Specimens examined: None. Holotype could not be located.
Description. Length: 19.0–25.0 mm
Colour: Body black; mouthparts, palpi, base of antennal segments 1–2 reddish; short reddish setae; elytra dark with apices vaguely margined with reddish yellow; legs black.
Body: Remarkable by its pitch black colour.
Head: Slender
Pronotum: Long, slender; sides parallel, hardly sinuate in its posterior.
Elytra: Surface matt; humerus obliterate; striations fine, convex; intervals rough.
Geographical distribution. INDIA: Assam: Khasi Hills ( Maindron 1906) . Meghalaya: Shillong ( Saha and Halder 2000).
Remarks. Holotypes and other types could not be located. Description and remarks from Maindron (1906) are given. Very similar to P. aptinoides , but differs by longer form, longer and slender pronotum, completely black legs and antennae, intervals of elytral striations much rougher. It is endemic to Indo-Burma hotspot of biodiversity.
