Diagnosis. This species is similar to L. zhengi sp. nov. and L. plinthochroa ( West, 1931) externally. It can be distinguished from L. plinthochroa in the male genitalia by the trifurcate, distal process of the gnathos, outer dorsal process of the sacculus about 2/3 the length of the inner one, and outer margin of the median plate of the valva obtusely rounded; in the female genitalia by the entirely membranous ductus bursae about 1/2 the length of the corpus bursae; in L. plinthochroa , the distal process of the gnathos is hooked, outer dorsal process is about 1/3 the length of the inner one, and outer margin of the median plate is strongly produced to a lobe ( Wang et al. 2017, Fig. 20 View FIGURES 14–21 ); and in the female the basally sclerotized ductus bursae is about 1.2 times as long as the corpus bursae ( Wang et al. 2017, Fig. 30 View FIGURES 28–33 ). The differences between L. strumiformis and L. zhengi are stated in the diagnosis of the latter species.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3–5 ) wingspan 20.0–25.0 mm. Head yellowish white. Male labial palpus black mixed with yellow and reddish-fuscous scales; first segment about 1/6 length of second; second segment curved dorsad, appressed to vertex, hollowed out on inner side to receive long brush-like maxillary palpus; third segment tapering, yellow, about 1/5 length of second; female labial palpus thinner than male, third segment about 2/3 length of second. Male maxillary palpus long, brush-like, white; female maxillary palpus compressed and short, yellowish white. Antenna yellowish-fuscous, male serrulate on ventral surface; female with black annulations on dorsal surface; scape extension apically reaching end of metathorax, black suffused with yellow scales, basal half with long black mixed with yellowish white hair-like scales ventrally, yellow hair-like scales apically. Thorax and tegula yellowish white mixed with black and fuscous. Forewing with basal area black, suffused with yellowish white scales; median area pale pink mixed with yellow and black; distal area fuscous, along veins with white strips edged by black along both sides; costal margin yellow, with black scales scattered to postmedian line; antemedian line black, extending from basal 2/5 of costal margin slightly obliquely inward to lower margin of cell, then inward to basal 1/4 of dorsum, edged with pale pink fascia along inner margin; postmedian line black, extending from distal 1/3 of costal margin slightly arched inward to base of M 3, then slightly obliquely inward to distal 1/3 of dorsum, edged with pale pink fascia along both inner and outer margins; subterminal line fuscous, extending from distal 1/4 of costal margin slightly arched outward to distal 1/5 of dorsum, edged with wide yellow fascia along inner margin and narrow pale pink fascia along outer margin; cell with a longitudinal yellow fascia from middle to anterior 1/3 of antemedian line, with a black tuft from base of lower margin to antemedian line; yellowish fuscous patch from base of CuA 2 to middle of dorsum; discal spot absent; discocellular spot represented by a black tuft, brownish yellow on outer side; terminal line yellowish white. Hindwing concolorous with forewing; blackish-gray patch from below base of cell to dorsum, with a tuft of black mixed with white scales medially; wide yellow fascia extending from base of Rs to middle of dorsum, suffused with yellowish fuscous tufts; black hair-like scales between M 1 and M 2 and between 1A and 2A longitudinally. Cilia of both wings pale, brownish-yellow. Legs pale yellow, fore- and mid-femora and tibiae suffused with fuscous scales, fore tarsus with longitudinal fuscous strips. Abdomen white on ventral surface; yellow on dorsal surface, suffused with fuscous and black scales, each segment yellowish-white terminally.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 34–37 ). Uncus broad, sub-quadrate, covered with short setae dorsally. Gnathos lateral arms narrowly banded, joined apically; distal process trifurcate. Valva narrow basally, widened distally, obtuse terminally, covered with sparse hairs, tuberculate ventroapically; weakly sclerotized median plate umbraculiformis, oblique outward, widened posteriorly, widely fused with sacculus posteriorly; costa reaching apex of valva, distal 1/3 slightly expanded. Sacculus reaching apex of ventral margin of valva; dorsal process at middle, bilobed: inner lobe slender, arched outward, outer lobe slightly curved inward distally, about 2/3 length of inner lobe, thicker. Juxta subrounded; lateral lobes broad, slightly narrowed to pointed apex. Saccus U-shaped. Phallus slightly curved medially, slightly longer than ventral margin of valva, with denticles on distal 1/6; with one spine-shaped cornutus.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 46 View FIGURES 44–48 ). Papillae anales sub-triangular, obtuse posteriorly, with long setae. Ovipositor with sclerotized sub-rectangular plate anteriorly. Eighth segment rectangular, sternite narrowed medially, about 1/2 width of lateral margin, with sparse short setae posteriorly. Apophyses anteriores about equal length of apophyses posteriores. Lamella antevaginalis sub-rhomboid, shallowly concave medially. Antrum inverted trapezoidal. Ductus bursae membranous. Corpus bursae elongated, twice as long as ductus bursae; signa ovate, with dense denticles.

Distribution. China (Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Henan, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, Zhejiang).

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin strumiformis , referring to the valva tuberculate ventroapically.
