Diagnosis. This species is similar to L. variegata ( Moore, 1888) in both wing pattern and male genitalia, but can be distinguished by the strong and curved, lateral process equal to the width of the posterior margin of the uncus, gnathos with distal process hooked, sclerotized median plate obtusely rounded on outer margin ( Fig. 37 View FIGURES 34–37 ). In L. variegata , the slender lateral process of the uncus is not curved and about 3/4 the width of the posterior margin of the uncus, distal process of the gnathos is trifurcate, and sclerotized median plate is flattened on outer margin ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 34–37 ).
Description. Adult ( Fig. 21 View FIGURES 14–21 ) wingspan 31.0 mm. Head brownish yellow. Male labial palpus brown, suffused with fuscous and black; first segment about 1/6 length of second; second segment curved dorsad, appressed to vertex, hollowed out on inner side to receive long brush-like maxillary palpus; third segment pointed at apex, about 1/5 length of second. Male maxillary palpus long, brush-like, yellowish white. Male antenna yellow, suffused with black on lateral margin, serrulate on ventral surface in male; scape extension apically reaching middle of mesothorax, yellow at basal half, fuscous mixed with black scales at distal half, with long yellow mixed with fuscous hair-like scales on basal half and apically. Thorax and tegula black mixed with fuscous and yellow scales. Forewing with basal area black mixed with yellowish white scales; median area pink, suffused with yellowish white and fuscous scales; distal area gray, black at apex; antemedian line black, extending from basal 1/3 of costal margin arched outward to basal 1/3 of dorsum, edged with pale yellowish-white fascia along inner margin; postmedian line black mixed with fuscous, extending from distal 1/3 of costal margin obliquely outward to M 3, then inward to distal 1/4 of dorsum, edged with pale pink fascia along outer margin; subterminal line black, extending from distal 1/4 of costal margin obliquely outward to M 2, then inward to dorsum before tornus, edged with yellowish-white fascia along inner margin and pale pink fascia along outer margin, brownish-yellow tufts placed at R 5 and M 1 on subterminal line; cell with fuscous, mixed with black hair-like scales from below base of lower margin to middle of antemedian line, yellowish-white on both inner and outer sides; cell with a yellowish-white erected tuft medially; discocellular spot represented by a yellowish-white tuft; terminal line grayish-white; cilia grayish-white, gray medially and apically. Hindwing yellowish-white; postmedian line black, extending from distal 1/3 of costal margin obliquely outward to M 3, then inward to dorsum before tornus, edged with pale, yellow fascia along outer margin; subterminal line black, extending from distal 1/6 of costal margin obliquely outward to M 3, then inward to dorsum before tornus, edged with pale yellow fascia along inner margin; black patch from below base of cell to dorsum, with tuft of yellowish-white and black scales medially; pale fuscous fascia extending from base of Rs to middle of dorsum, with yellowish-fuscous scales mixed with black tufts medially; black hair-like scales between M 1 and M 2,between CuA 1 and 1A as well as between 1A and 2A longitudinally; cilia white, gray medially and apically. Foreleg fuscous mixed with reddish brown scales on femur and tibia, tarsus yellow, suffused with fuscous scales; mid- and hindlegs yellow, except mid- femur and tibia suffused with fuscous scales. Abdomen with 1st segment black, mixed with brownishyellow on dorsal surface, remaining segments brownishyellow, 2nd segment mixed with black scales.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 37 View FIGURES 34–37 ). Uncus subquadrate, straight on posterior margin, covered with dense short hairs dorsally, with long spine-shaped process from middle of 1/4 to lateral margin, length about equal to width of posterior margin. Gnathos lateral arm widely banded; distal process hooked. Valva narrow, subrhomboid, concave at middle terminally, with sparse short hairs; sclerotized median plate shell-shaped, obtusely rounded on outer margin; costa reaching apex of valva, distal 1/3 expanded; sacculus about 4/5 length of ventral margin of valva; dorsal process bilobed: inner lobe sub-rectangular, outer lobe short spine-shaped. Juxta rounded; lateral lobes narrowed from base to pointed apex, slightly arched inward. Phallus straight, narrow at basal 1/3, with denticles arranged in V shape at distal 1/4; without cornutus.
