Udamoselis Enderlein View in CoL
Udamoselis Enderlein, 1909: 230 . Type species: Udamoselis pigmentaria Enderlein , by monotypy.
estrellamarinae Martin, 2007: 15 View in CoL . Ecuador.
pigmentaria Enderlein, 1909: 231 View in CoL . “ In all probability South America”.
[Enderlein’s solitary male specimen of U. pigmentaria View in CoL has never been located. Whilst this check list was in preparation, three males were collected in Ecuador (BMNH) that are clearly congeners of U. pigmentaria View in CoL . These have indicated that Udamoselis View in CoL is a valid genus for some exceptionally large species, which are not otherwise fundamentally different from other members of the Aleurodicinae . They have been discussed in detail and described as U. estrellamarinae ( Martin, 2007) View in CoL but, in the continuing absence of puparia whose characters might shed further light on this intriguing genus, the subfamily Udamoselinae is retained here for Udamoselis View in CoL alone. Udamoselis View in CoL and U. pigmentaria View in CoL are, however, no longer regarded as nomina dubia . The history and status of Udamoselinae was also discussed by Martin & Streito (2003: 3), prior to the discovery of U. estrellamarinae View in CoL .]
