Brachyolus albescens Broun, 1903: 73 View in CoL

Lectotype, here designated ( Figures 7, 8 View FIGURES 5–10 ). Female (BMNH). Glued to card mount; specimen missing middle right tarsus segment 5. Labelled: ‘2881.’ [handwritten, Broun’s hand; off-white rectangular label], BCBM label, ‘Karori / Wellington’ [handwritten, Broun’s hand; off-white rectangular label], BCBM label, ‘ Brachyolus / albescens’ [handwritten, Broun’s hand; off-white rectangular label], ‘BMNH(E) / 1237383’ [printed, white rectangular label], ‘LECTOTYPE / Brachyolus / albescens / Broun 1903 / Designated SDJ Brown 2013’ [printed, red rectangular label].

Broun (1903) does not explicitly state how many specimens made up the type series, but implied that there were more than one by giving two type localities (Karori and Wadestown). To ensure nomenclatural stability in the event of further syntypes being found and being different species, a lectotype is here designated. No paralectotypes were found in BMNH. One probable paralectotype from Karori in MNHN.
