45. Philia View in CoL
[ Philia View in CoL ] Meigen, 1800: 20.
CURRENT STATUS: Unavailable name; work suppressed for the purposes of zoological nomenclature by action of I.C.Z.N. (1963: 339 [Opinion 678]); treated under Dilophus Meigen, 1803 [teste Hardy (1989: 122)].
[ Philia View in CoL ] Latreille, 1802: 426.
CURRENT STATUS: Unavailable name; name proposed (along with Hirtea ) in synonymy with Tipula Linnaeus, 1758 without characters to define each genus-group name.
[ Philia View in CoL ] Latreille, 1820: 360.
CURRENT STATUS: Unavailable name; name proposed (along with Hirtea ) in synonymy with Tipula Linnaeus, 1758 without characters to define each genus-group name.
[ Philia View in CoL ] Bezzi, 1907a: 56.
CURRENT STATUS: Unavailable name; criteria to make the name available not fulfilled in this work. REMARKS: Bezzi (1907a) included this name only in a list of Meigen 1800 names without stating their availability.
Philia Meigen in Hendel, 1908: 51 View in CoL .
ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: None.
FIRST INCLUDED SPECIES: Tipula febrilis Linnaeus, 1758 (in Coquillett 1910a: 588).
TYPE SPECIES: Tipula febrilis Linnaeus, 1758 , by subsequent designation ( Coquillett 1910a: 588).
CURRENT STATUS: Preoccupied by Philia Schiödte, 1842 ; Philia Koch, 1846 ; junior synonym of Dilophus Meigen, 1803 [teste Hardy (1989: 122)].
FAMILY: BIBIONIDAE .
REMARKS: Philia was originally proposed by Meigen (1800: 20) without included species and later made unavailable by the suppression of the entire work for the purposes of zoological nomenclature by action of the I.C.Z.N. (1963: 339 [Opinion 678]). Hendel (1908: 51) was the first after Meigen (1800) to give characters to differentiate the taxon (reproducing Meigen’s characters) and to treat Philia as valid, which makes the name available from that work with Meigen as author. Hendel (1908) did not include any species. Coquillett (1910a: 588) was the first to include a species: Tipula febrilis Linnaeus, 1758 , which is the type species by subsequent designation. Tipula febrilis Linnaeus, 1758 is currently treated in Dilophus Meigen, 1803 [teste Hardy (1989: 122)], which makes Philia Meigen in Hendel, 1908 a junior synonym of Dilophus Meigen, 1803 , n. syn.
