13. Coryneta View in CoL
[ Coryneta View in CoL ] Meigen, 1800: 27.
CURRENT STATUS: Unavailable name; work suppressed for the purposes of zoological nomenclature by action of I.C.Z.N. (1963: 339 [Opinion 678]); treated under Tachydromia Meigen, 1803 [teste Yang et al. (2007: 435)].
[ Coryneta View in CoL ] Bezzi, 1907a: 56.
CURRENT STATUS: Unavailable name; criteria to make the name available not fulfilled in this work. REMARKS: Bezzi (1907a) included this name only in a list of Meigen 1800 names without stating their availability.
Coryneta Meigen in Hendel, 1908: 56 View in CoL
ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Musca cursitans Fabricius, 1775 ; Musca cimicoides Fabricius, 1779 [as “ cimicoïdes Fab. ”].
TYPE SPECIES: Musca cimicoides Fabricius, 1779 [= Musca arrogans Linnaeus, 1761 ], by present designation.
CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Tachydromia Meigen, 1803 . New Synonymy.
FAMILY: HYBOTIDAE .
REMARKS: Coryneta was originally proposed by Meigen (1800: 27) without included species and later made unavailable by the suppression of the entire work for the purposes of zoological nomenclature by action of the I.C.Z.N. (1963: 339 [Opinion 678]). Hendel (1908: 56) was the first after Meigen (1800) to give characters to differentiate the taxon (reproducing Meigen’s characters) and to treat Coryneta as valid, which makes the name available from that work with Meigen as author. Hendel (1908) included two species: Musca cursitans Fabricius, 1775 and Musca cimicoides Fabricius, 1779 , but did not designate a type species. Coquillett (1910a: 528) designated Tachydromia connexa Meigen, 1803 as type species, but this was not originally included and there are no other published type designations for this genus-group name. To fix the name, we select Musca cimicoides Fabricius, 1779 [= Musca arrogans Linnaeus, 1761 ], by present designation. Musca cimicoides Fabricius, 1779 is currently treated in Tachydromia Meigen, 1803 [teste Yang et al. (2007: 435)], which makes Coryneta Meigen in Hendel, 1908 a junior synonym of Tachydromia Meigen, 1803 , n. syn.
