Capsaloides nairagi Yamaguti, 1968 View in CoL ( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 E, 2E)
Typehost: Makaira sp. ( Istiophoridae ).
Typelocality: Hawaii, USA [Pacific Ocean].
Additional records: Tetrapterus angustirostris Tanaka, 1915 , Hawaii, USA [Pacific Ocean] (see Yamaguti 1968).
Site: Gills.
Specimens examined: Holotype (USNPC 63599); 2 voucher specimens (NHM 1979.9.13.5557).
Remarks
Capsaloides nairagi View in CoL is most easily distinguished from other species in the genus by a zigzagged row (see fig. 22 of Yamaguti 1968) of closelyspaced dorsomarginal body sclerites ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 E) which extend to the posterior end of the body. In the holotype, the left isolated group of anterior dorsomarginal body sclerites comprises 6 sclerites each with 7– 10 cusps. The right isolated group of anterior dorsomarginal body sclerties comprises 10 sclerites, each with 3–6 cusps. The haptoral accessory sclerites ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 E) are large with an elongate shaft. According to Yamaguti (1968), the egg is rhomboidal with an appendage at one end.
