TYPE:— CHINA. Hainan: Yik Tsok Mau, 19 May 1922, F. A. McClure 3184 (i.e. Canton Christian College Herbarium 9732) (syntype: PNH, destroyed, A 00051042 image!, A 00051043 image!, ECON 00112346 View Materials image!).
The name Meliosma buchananifolia Merr. was validly published with a single gathering “ McClure 9732 ” cited in the protologue ( Merrill, 1923). However, on the labels of the syntype specimens, the collecting number is 3184 and the herbarium number is Canton Christian College Herbarium 9732. Therefore, the erroneous collecting number in the protologue is to be corrected.
