The genus Pallenopsis was moved to the Phoxichilidiidae Sars, 1891 by Arnaud and Bamber (1987) as suggested by Stock (1978). Current thinking, reinforced by the morphology of the protonymphon larva described below, has returned the genus to the Callipallenidae .
