Range: eastern North America, south to Alabama, west to Illinois. Habitat: recorded from many plants including dogwood, beech, oak, cottonwood, hickory, maple, and pine. Collection Method: emergence.

Biology: flight period June to August, feeds under bark and enters wood to pupate. Present Study: significantly higher abundance in primary forest. References: Linsley and Chemsak 1984, 1997; Downie and Arnett 1996; Turnbow and Thomas 2002; Lingafelter 2007; Majka et al. 2011.
