World distribution. Chile.

Chilean distribution. From Valparaíso to Los Lagos region ( Fig. 200 ).

Altitudinal range. From coastal to precordillera ecosystems (0–1,600 m.a.s.l.).

Biology and notes. Victoriana lugubris has been observed in flowers of Hypochaeris sp. on the edge of native forests (Álvaro Zúñiga-Reinoso, CSP record), feeding on Mitraria coccinea Cav. (Gustavo Lezana, CSP record), Asteraceae flowers (Francisco Carreño, CSP record) or hovering in the middle of remaining fragments of native forest chosing flowers of Sarmienta scandens (J.D. Brandis ex Molina) Pers. (Rodrigo Barahona-Segovia pers. obs.).

Conservation status. LC; EOO = 236,119 km 2, AOO = 68 km 2, 15 subpopulations and 16 localities.
