World distribution. Chile.

Chilean distribution. From La Araucanía to Los Lagos región ( Fig. 79 View FIGURE 79 ).

Altitudinal range. From coastal to precordillera ecosystems (5– 1,000 m.a.s.l.).

Biology and notes. Shannon & Aubertin (1933) described the holotype of Hemixylota unicolor based on specimens from “Ensenada” in Argentina. However, Ensenada is a locality in Chile belonging to the Puerto Varas municipality ( Hull 1949b; Thompson 1999a). Thus, we reclassified this species as endemic to Chile. The species is associated with the Valdivian evergreen and North Patagonian forest, which has been replaced by urbanization and plantation forestry. All biological and ecological aspects of this species are unknown.

Conservation status. EN under B2ab (iii) using AOO = 12 km 2 and three localities (or subpopulations); EOO = 19,513 km 2.
