World distribution. Argentina and Chile.
Chilean distribution. Only recorded from La Araucanía region ( Fig. 103 View FIGURE 103 ).
Altitudinal range. This species inhabits native forests in precordillera ecosystems at 1500 m.a.s.l.
Biology and notes. Valdiviomyia edwardsi is associated with native forests. Systema Dipterorum ( Thompson & Pape 2010) only describes this species distribution in Argentina, however, Etcheverry (1963) determined that it can also be found in Chile. Thus, this species has been reclassified as native to Argentina and Chile. All biological and ecological aspects of this species are unknown.
Conservation status. DD; AOO = 2 km 2 and one locality (or subpopulation).
