≡ Circaea imaicola (Asch. & Magnus) Hand.-Mazz. var. angustifolia Hand.-Mazz. View in CoL
Type:— CHINA. Yunnan: Tong-tchouan (Dongchuan), elev. ca. 2700 m, 1913, E. E. Maire 1005 ( E00417214 digital image) .
Distribution: —Yarlung Zangbo-Brahmaputra, S Hengduan.
Note: —This subspecies is endemic in Yunnan, China. It can be recognized by its slender leaves with narrowly to broadly cuneate bases, and the purplish uncinate hairs on fruit.
In the protologue of Circaea imaicola var. angustifolia, Handel-Mazzetti (1933) cited the type specimen as “Maire 1005/1913, Typus, Hb. Edinburgh ”. We found this specimen in E (E00417214), which was labeled by hand with “ Typus ” by Handel-Mazzetti in 1932. However, we cannot rule out the possibility of the existence of duplicates, and leave the type status issue open for further perusal.
