Lectotype (designated by Raven 1962a):— INDIA. Jammu and Kashmir: Baltal, 28 September 1848, Thomson s.n. ( K000979303 !).
Distribution: —Jammu & Kashmir, U Ganga & Indus.
Note: —This species is similar with Epilobium amurense . It has turions, while E. amurense has leafy basal soboles. Moreover, the leaf apex of E. rhynchospermum is round.
