4. Parotocrania dilatipes ( Conle, Hennemann & Gutierréz, 2011: 303, figs. A–E) [ Phanocles ]. HT, ♀: Orden: Phasmatodea , Familia:, Localidada: Mocoa, Cea, Putumayo, Sept. 18/06; Universidad de Caldas—Centro de Museos Historia Natural, CI-001–044–6 [MHN-UC]; PT, ♀ (penultimate instar): Ecuador, Macas, 1000 m, Feyer, S. V.; Bostra bifida Redtenb., Günther det. [MNHU]. comb. n. ( Figs. 46 View FIGURE 46 L-N, 46P, 47A, 48E, 86G)

Remarks: The three ♀♀ and ♀ nymph in the collection of MNHN show this species to be fairly variable in several morphological aspects. Noteworthy variability is particularly seen in the size and shape of the lobes of the meso- and metafemora and large dorsal crest of the basitarsi. Slight variability can also be observed in the length of the subgenital plate and some specimens may have a large, transversely scale-like or shield-shaped posterior lobe on abdominal terga V and VII (e. g. the dark brown specimen from Misahualli in the collection of MNHN, Fig. 47A View FIGURE 47 ). Moreover, the colouration ranges from light buff over drab to dark brown in the examined examples. One of the specimens from Rio Tiputini has a slight greenish wash and most of the thorax and legs unevenly flecked with white. The body length of the ♀♀ examined ranges from 115.0–131.0 mm including the subgenital plate.

A ♂ in the collection of CEBUC from Parque Chapalito, Nariño, S-Colombia is likely to be the opposite sex of this species. The strong sexual dimorphism in this genus however, hinders confirmed matching of sexes without having specimens from the same locality. Thus , no detailed description is presented here. The small size (body length 90.0 mm) and shape of the head support this assumption, whereas the almost wholly slender basitarsi are a feature that rather refute a conspecificy. In overall appearance the specimen strongly resembles the ♂♂ of P. regina ( Conle et al., 2011) , but in addition to being notably smaller it differs by the slightly stockier shape, less distince posteromedian indention of the anal segment and having a small, obtuse central protuberance on the poculum.
